When did BNI start up, and what do the initials stand for?
It was started in January 1985 by Dr. Ivan R. Misner in the USA - Business Network International

Can anyone join a chapter?
We only take one person per professional specialty or trade. So if your category is already represented, we can refer you to another chapter.

I am going to come along as a visitor. What do I need to bring?
We would be delighted for you to come along as our guest. Please bring with you enough business cards to hand out to all the business present (30-40). Also please have something prepared to say about your business and what referrals you are looking for. We ask everyone to say a little something for just 60-seconds.
Finally, we also ask for £10 to cover the cost of the breakfast.

How often do we meet?
All BNI chapters meet once a week. The Staines-Upon-Thames chapter meet every Wednesday morning at the same venue.

How do you know new members are reputable?
The application to join asks for business references and we have a membership committee that checks them thoroughly before considering whether that person/company would be a good asset to the chapter.

Where do you meet and how often?
We meet every Wednesday morning, from 6:45 to 8:30, at The Thames Club, Wheatsheaf Lane, Staines. To view a map of the area, click here.

What is the dress code?
The dress code for the meeting is whatever you wear for your business.

What happens at a meeting?
The meetings are designed to generate new business and follow a structured 20-point agenda. The focus is on positive contribution to the group and educating other members about your business so that they can find quality referrals. At the heart of the BNI meeting is the "60 Seconds" slot. This is each member's opportunity to tell everyone at the meeting all about their business, the kind of referrals they would like, and anything at all that will help the other members generate business for them.
